Noro!!!

Happy Holidays!!!

It has been fah-evah since my last post... but all of that is about to change. It is official... I no longer work for someone else. I am back to working for myself, and it feels great!

Along with this new sense of freedom comes more time to knit! Yay!! I have already started on a pair of socks. I ordered the new Noro sock yarn from The Loopy Ewe last Wednesday and it was at my door Friday. How is that for customer service! So anyway, I went to a dinner Saturday night and casted on as soon as I finished the course.

Here are the socks. The 2nd is almost complete, most likely will be finished tonight. The yarn is interesting, though. It feels like the worsted weight Noro but just sock weight and knits up wonderfully on sz 1. It still has the thin/ thick slubs in the yarn. When I finish, I will give the yarn a good soak and see how it blooms. The color is 95 and it was a total accident that the colors matched up that way! i will have enough yarn left over to knit a pair of anklets :).

Happy Knitting!

What I'm Up To....

I just wanted to start off by saying Thank You to all of you guys that wished me well. I a doing MUCH better now and feeling great. :)

This is the diaper cake that I made for my boss that never made its way to the baby shower! It took me about 45 minutes to put together and when I finally did give it to her, she loved it. I had a blast making it and I already have requests to make one for another baby shower! Let me know if you want the details on how to make one.

This is what the cake looked like after i had shrink wrapped it!

So, I have been knitting here and there. This was supposed to be finished for Rhinebeck, but I never made it there. Hopefully next year I will be able to attend. My clappy is almost finished. it is about 5 ft long now. I am trying to use up every bit of the yarn and make it as long as possible.

So...I foung this sock in my stash just waiting to be finished. I started to knit it a while back and forgot about it, until now. For some reason, I have been really good at completing the first sock, but when I get to the 2nd sock, I lose the drive to finish it, better yet, start it! Last week, alone, I finished 4 socks and have yet to cast on for their mates. Most likely, I will cast on for the 4 socks sometime this week! Wish me luck!

As if I don't already have a billion projects OTN, I casted on for this stole. It is the Lily of the Valley stole from IK. I want to have it finished for a Christmas gift, but we'll see about that.

Edit: I'm working on the Forest Path Stole!

That's all for now! Happy Knitting!!

I'm Baaaack!

Soo... this is what I wanted to post about last week. I treated myself to a new purse!!! Woo Hoo!! This will be my winter purse. I can fit a ton of stuff in it!

This is my knitting/ laptop bag. I LOOOOOVE it!!! Knittting in style! LOL!!

I do have some knitting to show! Here is my Clapotis which should be done for Rhinebeck. I really want to wear it there!

It will be about 6 ft long by the time I am finished.

So, my brother an I were in TJ Maxx last week and i snapped this pic of him. I could not stop laughing while I took it, I'm surprised it came out at all!!

That's all for now!

AHHH!! It's Fall...

... and I have yet to complete 1 sweater. I thought by now I would have knit, or at least started to knit one by now! I have the pattern picked out and the yarn and needles ready to go, but not even a stitch started. I guess it was not meant for me to knit a sweater this year.

What I have been knitting, is socks! Tons and tons of socks! O.K., maybe not tons and tons, but socks are pretty much my carry along project that I knit during my spare moments ( which
seems to be more and more consumed by work!) and that is starting to become few and far between.

Between being sick and work, I have had some time to start a few projects and also finish a few as well. Today, I started on a sock, toe -up with a cable pattern that I came up with. The yarn is Lorna's Lace's in the River color way from The Loopy Ewe. I kind of have a love/hate relationship with LL. One day I love it and the next day, it's meh... But anyway, today I'm loving it and I am already past the heel of sock no.1.

Here is a close-up of the pattern. Maybe I'll write it up one day!

Next to the LL sock is the Embossed Leaves Socks. I absolutely luuuurve this pattern! I think this is the third pair that I have started! It's a super easy pattern to remember and looks really pretty on the foot.

So, in my fit of startitis, I have cast on for another Clapotis (the blue/purple one on top). I knit one of these way back when I first started knitting and have been meaning to knit another from a better quality yarn. For this Clapotis, I'm using Shaefer Anne from Little Knits. Yes, That's my secret spot for BFL, Shaefer, CTH and many others. (Please save some for me!!!) I'm using sz 6 32 " addi lace needles (from Little Knits as well) and I hope to have this finished for RHINEBECK!!!! Yes, I have already requested those days off from work. O.K. Back to the Clapotis. I Love the pattern and I will probably knit 1 or 2 more for myself (I have a few more skeins of Shaefer Anne in the stash!!)

The other knitted blob in the picture is a shawl/ baby blanket that I started in BFL I forget the colorway and it is the Christening Shawl pattern from Shawls and Scarves. It's coming along slowly but surely.

I do have some F/O's!! I started these back in June but just got around to finishing them!

Stats: Started: June 10th ish..
Finished: Sept 10th
Pattern: Plain Vanilla 60 sts
Yarn: Claudia Hand Painted in OOPS!

This yarn was super yummy! I can't wait to start the next pair!

Stats: Started: May20th
Finished: Sept 10th
Pattern: My Own (Dragon Skin Lace)
Yarn: Blue Moon Fiber STR in Watermelon Tourmaline

The yarn was a pleasure to knit with. I guess I got bored with the colors during the 2nd sock b/c I went 2 1/2 months without even touching it! I might order more in the future.

Well, I will have a super yummy post later on in the week (hopefully this cold is gone by then) and I will show my new acquisitions.....

Laterz!

Sockapalooooza!!

Woo Hoo!! My socks are here and the fit great!! Thanks so much Alison for setting up the swap! My socks were made by Anji. She used the Whitby pattern from Knitting on the Road. She also hand spun the yarn for the socks too!!

She also includes about 720 yds of HAND SPUN merino!!!! I am sooooooo lucky!!! Thanks so much Anji!!

A few weeks ago, I went camping. I snapped this pic of a young doe. How cute is she??

We also built a fire and roasted marshmallows for smores! Yum!!

So much has happened in this month, too much to blog about! Hopefully, I'll be able to blog more now!

Happy Knitting!!!

The First Day of Summer...

and I had to work. I missed the 9:01pm sunset, but that's o.k!

I have been so late on posting about this, but here it goes! This is what Alisa sent me. She was my ISE4 buddy. She used the Sarcelle pattern (I have been wanting to knit this scarf fuh-eva!) . It it so squooshy and yummy! She also sent some yummy hand soap in a hand knit bag (can't wait to use it!), Candy (that didn't last long at all!) 2 types of yarn (2 balls of Lange Mohair Luxe in red and Eki Riva baby silk in mauvey/purpley color) and also 2 knitted flower pins! Thanks so much!!

I also have a pair of socks completed! O.k., so they are not a matching pair. I have already casted on for their mates and I see real "pairs" in the future!

Happy Knitting!!

Meme Time!

So Sandy tagged me!
But first: The rules!

1: Each player starts with 8 random facts/habits about themselves.

2: People who are tagged, write a blog post about their own 8 random things, and post these
rules.

3: At the end of your post you need to tag 8 people and include their names.

4: Don't forget to leave them a comment and tell them they're tagged, and to read your blog.

Here you go! This is going to require a LOT of thinking.

1. I am a self taught knitter. One day I decided to knit an I have been on a roll ever since!

2. I hate corn. Canned corn, corn on the cobb, corn chowder, anything corn, I can not eat. I'm getting sick just thinking about it! But I do like tortilla chips!

3. I am allergic to shellfish. I feel the same way about shellfish as I do corn.

4. I can not knit on 1 project at a time. I need variety and working on several projects gives me that.

5. Flavor of Love, Charm School and I Love New York are some of my favorite shows. I get such a good laugh from them!

6. I like chocolate in many forms, but I hate chocolate ice cream.

7. Purple is my favorite color. All shades of purple actually! I can't get enough of it! I have purple sneakers, sandals, boots, you name it, I have it in purple.

8. I can't think of anything else! LOL! It was hard coming up ith 7!

I am tagging Adrienne and Rachel and whoever else wants to do this meme. Please leave a comment letting me know you did so I can check out your responses!

I have also started knitting with the STR in Watermelon Tourmaline. More on that later!

Happy Knitting!!!

Woo Hoo!!

Finally, an FO!!

Pattern: Baby Sweater from Knitters Almanac
Yarn: GGH 50% cotton 50% acrylic "Cotton Candy"
Needles: Addi turbo sz 4
Started: April 7, 2007
Finished: May 18, 2007

The pattern was very well written and I will most likely knit it again! From start to finish, it only took about 6 hours. I only worked on it during my spare time, which was few and far between!

Woo Hoo!!!! It's OTN and that's all that matters! Since I don't have a recipient, it will probably sit in the bottom of my knitting basket until I give it away!

I have heard (read) so many blogs talking about Socks That Rock yarn, so I decided to take the plunge. I placed an order on Wednesday and it came today!

I ordered Watermelon Tourmaline and Mustang Sally. I have to admit, this yarn is beautiful! I can't wait to start knitting!!!

I was tagged by Sandy with a meme, but I'll do that tomorrow!

Hapy Knitting!!

Time Flies!!!

I can't believe it has been 26 days since my last post!! I have been working like crazy!! I did squeeze in some time to knit, though. I started my IS4 scarf and that's coming along great. I hope to be finished in 2 weeks and have it sent out to her as soon as its finished.

I was totally surpised today when i received my sockret pal package. It came from Gracie and I absolutely love every last bit of it. First, there are the socks. The fit like a glove. She used Colinette Jitterbug with the Broadripple pattern from Knitty (I am adding this pattern to the "Must Knit" list!!) Then, she also sent a Lantern Moon tape measure along with a book "Knitting Lessons" by Lela Nargi. Included with the package came wool wash! Eucalan lavender and yarn! 2 skeins of Claudia Hand Painted yarn in the "Oops" coloray and 1 skein of Creatively Dyed yarn in the "Caribbean" colorway. I was treuly blessed! Thank you, so much Gracie.

I am actually wearing the socks now!!

This also came! A package from my Secret Pal!! Yay!! She sent a B-day card (My b-day is tomorrow!) Yummy cocoa mix, woolwash and udder cream lotion from a store near her and 2 skeins of koigu!!!

I feel so blessed to be given such wonderful gifts! Thank you, SP!!

On the knitting front, I have a ton of half finished projects! I still have 1 jaywalker sock left to knit from last month's project spectrum, my army brat socks (1 is almost completed), the trellis sweater (2 sleeves left to complete) another baby sweater, the log cabin baby blanket (i ran out of yarn) my entrelac scarf (1 ball left!) the orange opal socks (i'm not too stressed about it b/c it's my on the go sock that i leave in the car) and my red cables and seed stitch socks from christmas. Yeah, I've got a lot of knitting to do!!

What I'm Up To....

Whew!! Last week went by so quick for me! This new job takes a bunch of my knitting time and i barely have to knit (even on my lunch!). I did squeeze in a few minutes to get my nails done, I haven't had them done in a while, so I treated myself.

And here's a close-up!

I love it! The colors are so "Spring" and the had desing was free too!! Can't beat that!!

Ok, since my new job has sucked away, I'll be running late with my Sockret Pal socks. I'm almost finished, so that's a plus. I know she will love them!

**ISE4 Update....

I have already ordered my yarn and I'm waiting for it to come in! I can't wait to get started! I already have a pattern in mind!!

And here's a puppy pic! This is Lexis, my In-law's puppy and she's a cutie pie!!

A Quick "Hi"

I've been super busy with work and trying to finish up my Sockret Pal socks! Thank you (everyone that commented) so much on the well wishes!! You gals are great!!! Since i have to work today, this is just a super short post, but I will have a post with tons of pics tomorrow!

Happy Knitting!!!!!!!

Yay!!

Lots of things to be excited about..... I have a new job that I love already, SP10 started, IS4 started and Sockret Pal is winding down.

Ok. Back to the new job. I've wanted to go back to work for a while. Not for just a seasonal job, but a job that i could grow in and want to be at. The opportunity came up and I accepted the offer. How cool is that?!?! So, now, I am officially a working woman!!

I will definitely have to learn to balance work and maintaining a house hold. It is tough, but I know I can handle it!

I did get some dyeing done last week. This is what I came up with. The colors are pink, brown and army green. I sorta reminds me of an "army brat". I have already swatched it and it looks really nice!

The first SP10 contest is up!! Well, for my group anyway!

I am working on the Trellis pattern from Knitty. I t is one of the many projects I'm working on, but is by far my fave! I love this patter soooooooo much because it's a super pattern and the cable pattern is easy to remember and it's a whole sweater, be it a small sweater, and it's finished in no time at all! The sweater will be a gift for my friend. Her baby shower is next weekend but she feels that the baby will come this weekend (uh-oh!!). Her due date isn't until 4-15, so she's a little early.

I snapped a few pics of Tigre sleeping. He can be such a cutie pie!!

Boots was investigating the camera!

I'm Sick......

And I have been since Sunday. I have barely had any energy to knit or blog, until today. This is what I have bee working on ....

The Bayerische socks for my Sockret Pal. I hope to finish them by the end of the week and send them out on Monday at the latest.

I purchased the white yarn in a clearance bin for 2.99. It's Regia Color and it has flecks of purple, blue , orange and pink in it. I knew I wouldn't have enough yarn from a 50 g ball so I'm doing the heels and toes in Electric Blue ( also from Regia).

Happy Knitting!!

A Day In The Doctor's Office

No, I'm not sick, but I did spend the day in the doctor's office. My good friend and her 2 children are sick, super sick, and she asked if I could help her take them and herself to the doctor's. Oh, by the way, she's 8 months preggy and on bed rest (doctor's orders). So, I spent a ton of time in the waiting room. Knitting. Yes. I brought my knitting to keep me busy!

I started on a sock (like I don't have enough projects OTN!) and had the older women in the waiting room staring. Here's how the convo went:

Old Lady 1: Oh, are you crocheting?

Me: No, I'm knitting.

OL1: Are you sure that's knitting and not crocheting?

Me: Yes, I'm sure.

OL1: Well, I'll be. To me that looks like crochet.

(mind you, I'm knitting on 1 circ)

Me: Yeah, I'm knitting. I don't crochet too often.

OL1: Oh, what are you knitting? A hat? That is just beautiful!

Me: Thanks, I'm knitting a sock.

OL1: A sock?!?!

Me: Yes, a sock.

OL1: That looks like a baby's hat. Are you sure it's a sock?

Me: Mmhmm.

::Then she gets called in for her apt::

Old Lady 2& 3 walk in.

OL2: Oh! You're knitting!! That's beautiful! What is it?

OL3: You sure that's knitting? I think it's crochet!

OL2: I know how to crochet and she's not doing what I do. She MUST be knitting.

Me: Yeah, I'm knitting.

OL2: Oh! What kind of needle is that?

Me: A circular needle.

::silence as she stares at me knitting::

OL2: Wow!

Me ::knitting::

OL2: Hmmm.

Me ::knitting::

OL2: I'd love to learn how but I don't think I can.

Me: Sure you can.

OL2: I wish you lived next door so you could teach me.

Me: Yeah, that woud be fun ::insert sarcasm here:: There's a knitting group that meets at "XYZ". You should check it out.

OL2: Good idea.

::OL2 & 3 go off to their appt::

What a day. i'm tired. My arm hurts from holding sick toddlers.

I learned a lot today. It's super hard being a mom. Doctor's visits suck. I have a new found appreciation for all moms out there. Give yourselves a big hug, cuz it's super hard. Super duper hard.

Happy Knitting

The Ugliest Sock Yarn EVER!!!

Yes. They are officially finished!!! i started and finished these socks in January, but I never got around to grafting the toe.

Stats:
Yarn: Online Supersock Dyelot: Super Ugly
Needle: Sz 1 Addi Bamboo 5"
Started: January
Finished:March 8, 2007 (all knitting was completed in January!)
Pattern: Picot w/ Plain Stockinette and Peasant heel.

I had this yarn in my stash, wayyyyyy in the back of my stash for over 2 years. I purchased it b/c the store owner talked me into it. I do love the way it fits, but the colors remind me of something stomach turning and not so pleasant. Anyway, they're done and wearable. I couldn't bear to give them away and burden someone else!

Yay!! One finished Jaywalker!! The other will be cast on shortly. I also did a Peasant heel for this sock.

This is the best lip gloss ever! (or as my niece would call it as a toddler "ips glop")

Happy Knitting!!
